The Big 5 day Safaris & excursions
You don't have to go to Krugerpark to spot the "Big 5". Some say in the Cape we have the "Big 6" (including the Southern Pacific Right Whale). In the Western Cape you find several Private Game Reserves were the BIG 5 can be spotted from open vehicles in a malaria free environment
Iverdoorn Game Reserve and Acquila Private Game Reserve are two well-estabished game reserves for daytrips, but also overnight stays. Both are about 2 - 2,5 hours drive from Somerset West. Along the Gardenroute (4-hours drive) you find Botlierskop Private Game Reserve another well-known game reserve in the Western Cape. All Game Reserves have a conservation program for endangered species. A great advantage of these game reserves in the Western Cape is that they are malaria-free. We are happy to make your booking.
If you prefer to go and "shoot" (with your camera of course) the Big 5 in Krugerpark, we can assist you with the booking of lodges and transfer with domestic flights. We book these stays via reputable local contacts.
There is a lot to see in the Western Cape and the surroundings of Cape Town. For example:
- Day trip excursion Cape Point
- Horseback wine tour
- Township tours
- Helicopter flights
- Hop-on-hop-off busses in Cape Town
- Shark diving in Gansbaai
- Robben Island
These and a lot more we can book for you, so you don't have to wait in long queues.
Also for our little friends the Western Cape is a paradise full of adventures. We have a list of things to do with kids in our guesthouse such as: glowing in the dark minigolf, Rush trampoline park, Two oceans aquarium, open air cinema, Scootours at the Table Mountain, Springbok Rugby Museum and a lot more!
